This is a slideshow with Farangis Yeganes works of her first series entitles FOR EXAMPLE MITHRAS. The fotos of the installations (at the end of the slideshow) have been taken at her exhibition in the Karmeliterkloster 1994. Farangis’ exhibiton had been realised in cooperation with the archaeological Museum of the city Frankfurt am Main in Germany.

We currently prepare a small documentation on the second part of the exhibition, which was presented this year in the Museum Schloss Fechenbach in Dieburg, Germany. The city Dieburg holds one of the most prestigious findings of the roman mithras cult. The locality – the museum – played a special role together with Farangis’ exhibition pieces, since her works strongly relates to the symbolism of the Dieburg relief.

After we finish that project we are gonna address the Egyptian goddess Ma’at.

PIG 05049 : Christien Meindertsma : Christien Meindertsma : just another homocentrist human

Compare how this young woman talks about killing a life : http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2010/mar/27/from-one-pig-185-products, using mainly the argumentation how useful that killing is. A homocentrist argumentation. Her mental frameset though, reminds me of the accounts slaughterhouse workers gave in interviews Gail A. Eisnitz made in 1997 http://meat.org.uk/slaught.html, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughterhouse … .

There is nothing different or special when either a woman or a man talk about their aggressive homocentrist attitudes. Mrs. Christien Meindertsma seems to think that it is more artistic when she accompanies a nonhuman animal that’s gonna be killed by her … than when any farmer or slaughterer does it. Just because she give an account of it in “arts form” – and because it’s curated as arts.

What is arts about it, is that we can see that she sold out the innocence that our good old humanistic values wanted to attribute to the normal human individual. No normal human individual is NOT capable of doing the most horrendous atrocities at the same time while rationalizing their deeds as reasonable, sensible and smart. History told us that already way too many times. Now to think that questioning and eradicating homocentrism wouldn’t be the next big task we as humans have to address, if we don’t all want to fall prey the sickly normal minds of the average human, would be naive.

To get the best answers about the trustworthiness of any speciesist reasoning about animals, is to simply turn the paper and look, yeah human values, human ideals, and how do we humans deal with each other and stand towards each other. By focusing from the point of view of THE HUMAN GROUP with the BIG HUMAN INTERTESTS on the false and pathological reasons why “we humans” have “a legitimate interest” in “using animals” we shift the focus away from two things:

A. the human conflicts that prove there is nothing such thing as “THE HUMAN SINGLE INTEREST”

and B.) that nonhuman animals and the environment can be understood as exactly the opposed value, that homocentrism seeks to destroy, negate and annihilate. Our view is turned away from that perspective.

The view this woman holds, typically tries to make us think that we are dealing with some redundant life. We are not. And this swine she killed is my family – soulwise.

P.S.

Dead animals in the shop
Drown the morals
and crawl through shit

Chorus
Paint your face, now the hunt is on
has he got a car,now give him what he wants
say he’s a man, use words like love
muscels and pride confirms he’s got he lot
he is a master of pain in his world of violence
you’re just another victim he’s picked up on his way
another example man’s voice is law
and woman takes second place in his world of hate and war

The privelaged(?) rape the earth
In this rich man’s ghetto
the armies of democracy

Chorus
Break the barriers that agregate us all
colours class and creed
or you pissing up a wall
the only change that will ever come
Is if you reject all the violence and media scum
it is up to you to live your life
dont accept their morals and rules
fucking up the world by the way we live
and you’re helping to bury it with your hate and predjudice

Hypocrisy, democracy, their weapon named fear
another cross to carry, whos burden do you share
discriminating theories, more ladders to climb
40 years of misery, another wasted life
state imposed disorder in their democracy
state imposed disorder, carried through their law

Speciesism sells for a reason. Just an / any example:

Joanna Newsom – kinda speciesist … ppl feel SO natural with dead nonhuman animals around them http://bit.ly/an78qx http://bit.ly/c8OAPr + http://bit.ly/bWbhAh The aesthetics of a living human showing herself with dead nonhuman animal life. Speciesism sells for a reason …

What is that reason? Spesiesism seems to give people a feeling of the or a human ‘principle of power’ to be superior over a principle of a animal vulnerability. If we take a closer look at what makes nonhuman animals more vulnerable, we can see that their ways of living reveals major aspects of where our own drawbacks lie.

All life is diverse. We all live either varying or fundamentally different forms of live. Sociology has put a veil over the fact how much human societies are fundamentally diverse in themselves. Nonhuman animals take and live an own position in how they are, and thus in how they are being different to us (THE OTHER). They have their own form of diversity amongst their own animal cultures.

Both humans and nonhuman animals relate their lives to their environmental contexts. And all life shapes the world.

If I, as a human, put a nature around me – aesthetically – that consists of dead animals, then I, as a human, am the only active part in this world. The animal might be “dead and beautiful”. Still I am the only active part in this world … . I consider this “aesthetical” stance to be dangerous, because it ignores the politicalness of animal existence as an active agent that is conjoined with the rest of nature.

The view that animals and nature are passive “non-agents”, is a view that has been long time established, by the rulers and intellectual elites, by most major and minor religions and cults, by the natural sciences, and by human civilizations, societies, tribes, groups and individuals.

Human might nevertheless has been established on a wrong basis.

P.S. I forgot, I think it’s my right to criticize a star (or basically anybody who is praised and “redeemed” in society) on the basis of putting somebody into question instead of accepting their ideas / arts / opinions whatever. If you find such an attitude disagreeable, and you if you think everybody has to follow the mainstream, then it is basically your concept of might that conflicts with my concept of right.

Long time no speiciesism I’ve been writing about … and no, of course there isn’t any lesser speciesism in arts than as badly as we had it before too. An awkward incident took me to land at the daily poisonous dose of speciesism in art recently …

I was googling the net for the “For Example Mithras – Part Two” exhibition by Farangis Yegane which the Museum Schloss Fechenbach currently hosts, when I found an article that – and this just besides – showed a false image of a lady who was wrongly introduced on the picture as the artists Farangis Yegane: This: http://bit.ly/d6L2CE is not Farangis Yegane! We uploaded some photos of Farangis now to make any possibly remaining error clear … because, (yippee yeah) by now that newspaper has corrected the erroneous annotation of their photo, after our request to do so (they made the correction on the 15th of March.) Anyway, I had looked up the author of that article with the wrong person shown in our exhibition as “the artist”, and this is where speciesism threw itself into my face – at the second glimpse though. So, hence this post:

The author of the article generally writes about her local arts scene in Darmstadt it seems, and links her favorite artists on her site. There are two of the artists she links as recommendations, so to say, who really match the misfortunate image of the typical artist-speciesist. Let’s get to see what I’m talking about: … here http://bit.ly/coDy6A on the site of the speciesist-friendly journalist Anja Trieschmann the visitor is introduced to:

A. http://auslender.blogspot.com http://bit.ly/d3913M the displayal of the “aesthetics” of the forced death of an animal as arts,

and

B. http://www.monikagolla.de http://bit.ly/d32yYG sexual organs and intimate body parts of nonhuman animals being displayed , and http://bit.ly/bxEYd7 somewhere else the human body is is being bereft of its dignity and its dignity of intimacy, via a negative for of “generalization” evoked by an exhibitionist type of a “behavioral act” by her “models” who display their rectal ends (?) for the camera; both artist and the model are into some “break-a-taboo” arts with those “arts objects” it seems. Then, more speciesism again, http://bit.ly/95snvM images of meat / sausage as arts. Not really any more spectacular than what we usually encounter, but any such spectacle that seeks attention with the degradation of life (especially by intentionally showing the degradation of life and it’s dignity) is what it is: a prolongment of the destruction caused by speciesism, by homocentrism and by a form of arts that feeds the markedly destructive mainstream-machinery.

Destructivism often tends to have a self-accumulating effect, where people create their own epistemplogical apories. Speciesism and homocentrism in arts only have one main factor where I as an Animal Rights person strike the alarm: Speciesism and homocentrism in arts infringe with the Rights of Animals.

Is it you yourself who decides about what you consider to be your “right”? It’s an inner process, isn’t it, that you believe you ought to have a right to breathe, a right to walk wherever you want to, a right to say whatever you feel like saying.

There is another layer of the term “right” that is not an inner process but that marks instead that what the society, or the whole human world considers to be a “right” or your “right” respectively. This form of a “legal right” – lets ground it upon the basis of a generalized form of all legal human rights taken together as, so to speak, a “generic” type of a right the humans actually “grant” you, themselves as a group, or a group within the human group – this generic type of an exclusively human right (our current “legal right”) can be detached and even really be something different than the type of right you give yourself.

Without the outer form of a right that is given to you as a person or that is in contrast NOT given to any other living sentient being, you or any sentient being still has their inner sense of what I would call a right. It’s not so that a sense of right (which has something to do with rights and wrongs, as strange as we may think this would be) is something that only exists if you are told what is wrong and what is right. A sense of what you personally may consider a right is something dependent on the beings socialization, on its social contexts. And yes, I do call the behaviour of nonhuman animals amongst other nonhuman animals too a form of social behaviour.

Now if people say “rights” are nothing natural in the case of “animal rights”, and Animal Rights can only be granted on a more or less arbitrary basis, they are wrong insofar in which one can easily realize that all rights in the purest form are something that has to be dealt with on a subjective and a socio-ethical plane.

Rights are natural, because rights stem from self-experience and social interaction. Legal rights on the contrast are quite arbitrary.

I feel a bit guilty that I haven’t been posting on here recently. I was for a large part busy finishing our first book project in German about Iran, Iranian culture, humanist concepts in Iranian culture and mythology. Please check out http://www.irankulturpolitik.com in that context.

Other than that I worked on several small sized drafts for my political and philosophical essays about Animal Rights theory. And finally two other tasks are currently keeping me busy. We are preparing two projects for Farangis.de that I am gonna post about at a later date, and my insect protection initiative usually needs some special attention in the autumn and winter time.

I redid the design of this page in a “crazy” way a bit. The unfortunate thing now is, that some of the important context that I got posted on here seems to be “insulted” by the childish looking new design. I hope you, the reader, can apologize that.

If you are reading this and you happen to be into active revolution in the fields of Animal Rights, Humans Rights, Environmentalism : I am eagerly looking for creative contributions. If you feel your thoughts match ours somehow, then please contact me at mail [at] simorgh [dot] de .

* I found this youtube valid xhtml generator: http://www.tools4noobs.com/online_tools/youtube_xhtml/. Neat stuff!

URGENT: A KURDISH POLITICAL PRISONER IS SCHEDULED TO BE EXECUTED ON NOVEMBER 11 IN IRAN

Tuesday 10 November 2009

Iran Human Rights, November 9: According to sources in Iran, the Kurdish political prisoner Ehsan (Esmail) Fattahian (28) is scheduled to be executed on Wednesday November 11 in Sanandaj. According to these sources Ehsan Fattahian has started a “dry” hunger strike since Sunday November 8., in protest to the scheduled execution.

Ehsan Fattahian is convicted of “moharebeh” (at war with God) and connection with a Kurdish opposition group.

According to a statement by Amnesty International, Ehsan (Esma’il) Fattahian’s lawyer has been summoned to attend his execution on 11 November at the prison in the city of Sanandaj, the provincial capital of Kordestan. Ehsan Fattahian was detained some time between April and August 2008. Reports suggest that he may have been tortured in detention. Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment to be served in exile, after a trial in which he was denied access to a lawyer. Both Ehsan Fattahian and the prosecutor appealed against this verdict, and in January 2009 Branch 4 of the Kordestan Appeal Court overturned the initial verdict. Instead he was sentenced to death for “enmity against God” in connection with his membership of an illegal armed opposition group – believed to be the the Kurdistan Independent Life Party (PJAK. This new sentence is believed to have been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Accordign to Amnesty International’s statement two other Iranian Kurdish men Habibollah Latifi, arrested in October 2007, and Sherko Moarefi, detained in October 2008, are also feared to be at imminent risk of execution, possibly in reprisal for a spate of assassinations and attempted assassinations of officials which took place in September.

Iran Human Rights urges UN, EU ad the international community to put pressure on the Iranian authorities in order to halt Ehsan’s execution.
