Mithraeum in Inveresk Schottland

Reliefdarstellung eines Phoenixes oder phoenixartigen Tierwesens von der Seite eines Mithrasaltars. Der Fund galt als überraschend, es ist das erste in Schottland gefundene Mithraum.

Der Phoenix erscheint auch auf dem Crosby Garrett Helm aus Cumbrien, eine römische silberne Reitermaske mit Phrygenmütze, bei der bislang unklar ist, ob es sich um die Darstellung des Gottes Mithras handelt, was aber wahrscheinlich ist.
